Overview

Maison & Objet is the premier trade fair in Europe for interior design attracting visitors and exhibitors from all over the world to Paris.

Two of the key themes from the show this year are a focus on sustainable natural materials and comfort.  As the outside world continues to be perceived as a hostile environment, the emphasis on creating a calming and cocoon-like home will continue to gain traction.

Designers are creating objects which can bring elements of nature indoors.

Back To Nature

There is a significant presence at the show of brands that focus on natural materials such as wool, hemp, cotton, and stone. In addition to the rise of plant dyes in the textile sector, there is also a trend to keep the natural beauty of raw colours.

Soft Edges

Rounded edges on furniture bring warm softness to the home interior. The world outside the home can feel quite hostile, therefore objects which bring a sense of calm and comfort will appeal to the consumer.

Animal Kingdom

Drawing inspiration from the animal kingdom is in vogue not only in fashion but also in interior design. Glasses engraved with animal heads or animal figurines create an element of sophisticated playfulness. Lladro débuts a series of sparrow lights that bring nature inside the home.

Flowing Smoothness

Soothing milky pastels with soft, curving shapes create a calming effect in every environment. The sugar-coated finishes bring tactility and dimension to the objects. In textiles the ombre transition from one colour to the next is particularly refreshing.

Modern Terracotta

Faded terracotta and burnt orange continue to be prevalent in the home sector. These earthy hues create warmth and a bright atmosphere with elements nostalgic of Mediterranean vacations. Pairing light grey with terracotta brings newness to the eye.

Time for Self-Reflection

Journals, cards, and colorful notebooks with inspirational quotes are urging the consumer to slow down and reflect on what matters in life. Items shifting our mindset to collecting experiences over things and helping the consumer to digitally disconnect will make popular gifts.
